Cirque du Dimboola: a ‘Big Top’ day out
TOWER Park Events is kicking off with the first Tower Park Market as part of a new series of events in the town: the Dimboola Fun-Fest.
The first event is a circus-themed market to be held on Saturday, March 21.
“We are very excited to be kicking off the year with a bit of fun with Cirque du Dimboola and some great free family entertainment,” market coordinator La Vergne Lehmann said.
Along with the regular market at Tower Park, there will also be a range of activities around the town, including a Steampunk-themed treasure hunt for families, children’s circus costume competition, circus-style entertainment with Danny Oldaker, market stalls and main street retailers, and the launch of Big Bertha’s new Sugar Baby ice cream van.
The Dimboola Fun-Fest – which will include a series of events/markets in May, July, September, October and November has also received Community Event funding from the Hindmarsh Shire, which will help establish the event in the main street in town this year.
The Steampunk treasure hunt is a free family activity that kicks off at the Forbidden Forest at 9am.
The circus-themed children’s costume competition will be judged at 10.45am, and registrations can be done with the market coordinator at any time from 9am.
The competition is free to enter, and there will be some prizes for the best costumes.
Our circus entertainment will start at 10am with a roving entertainer, followed by shows at 11.15am and 1pm.
The show will be a lot of fun and bring a circus feel to the whole of Main Street and Tower Park.
Tower Park will be hosting the official launch of Sugar Baby – a new ice-cream experience from Neil Davenport.
Hindmarsh deputy mayor Rosie Barker will be on hand to do the launch.
The campaign to purchase the Tower Park site continues, and there will be an opportunity for people to donate and ask questions, along with a fundraising sausage sizzle.
