Thirteen vintage tractors chugged their way through the district last week, on a seven-day tour of the Silo Art Trail.
The group left St Arnaud on March 25, with five of the group’s tractors from Victoria, and the rest from New South Wales - one even coming from Newcastle for the trip.
Although at this time of year, the weather is usually perfect for a lesuirely cruise around western Victoria, the group were greeted by rain on Monday morning, which did little to deter them as they ambled into Warracknabeal that night.
One pair from Lockhart, NSW, were touring on a 1957 Massey Ferguson 35 tractor totally in the elements, with no cabin for protection from the inclement weather - just a Drizabone coat.
By Tuesday morning the weather had improved and the group met at Wheatlands Warehouse and then headed up Scott Street to start their day’s journey to Brim, after a visit to the Agricultural Museum.
Neville White, who made the trip from Wedderburn, said the group really enjoyed themselves, and would be back in two years time.
“It was amazing, and people were coming up to us on the road, wanting us to come and see their collections,” he said.
“We visited a few places that weren’t on the program.
“The bumpy roads held us up too, especially in one area where we driving at eight kilometres per hour in the tractors.”
