Christmas is almost here
Dimboola has marked the beginning of the festive season with community Christmas carols held at the refurbished soundshell last Saturday, December 7, organised by Amanda Ingeme and Sharyn Cook supported by Dimboola CWA.
Dimboola has marked the beginning of the festive season with community Christmas carols held at the refurbished soundshell last Saturday, December 7, organised by Amanda Ingeme and Sharyn Cook supported by Dimboola CWA.
CWA treasurer Shirl King said it was a low-key event.
"It was always going to be low-key compared to what we have done in the past," she said.
"The weather was cool and there was a good crowd."
Dimboola CWA provided fruit salad and icecream for all who attended.
The Nhill-Dimboola Band kicked off the entertainment prior to 6pm before young children performed their hearts out.
Year six students from Dimboola Primary School performed their own Christmas song named 'Christmas in Dimboola' composed by teacher Dan Richardson.
"They handed out the song sheets so everyone can sing along," Ms King said.
Dimboola Kindergarten students also performed three songs to help get everyone into the festive spirit.
Becky Barry was the event MC who played games and kept children busy before the arrival of Santa.
"She played Santa Says with them instead of Simon Says, she was great," she said.
Santa soon arrived, handing out bags of lollies to all with the event finishing at around 7.30pm.
"The kids all lined up nicely and waited to get their lollies from Santa," Ms King said.
