Christian Emergency Food Centre receives $50,000 sponsorship from HSCC
Christian Emergency Food Centre receives $50,000 sponsorship.
The Christian Emergency Food Centre is the recipient of a $50,000 sponsorship from Horsham Sports and Community Club, with the funds to go towards the purchase of a commercial van to transport food to those in need.
The funds being received come from the HSCC's Major Community Project Sponsorship and was voted on by members of the club.
"Some of these [current] vehicles are limited and not very suitable for the task," the CEFC said in their application.
"The CEFC would like to purchase a commercial van that volunteers can use for these food collections. This will allow for easier collection of donated and purchased goods."
HSCC saw 639 members participate in the voting for which project would receive the funds.
President Dan Smith said, "the Club is so proud to support its community in many ways."
"Both projects, the Lake Marma Innovative Water Playground and Christian Emergency Food Centre Vehicle, were very well supported and extremely worthy."
CEFC client assessment manager, Bev Miatke shared her gratitude for the funding.
"It means so much to the volunteers here who would normally use their own vehicles to pick up food from our generous community partners all around Horsham," she said.
"Volunteers pick up food daily from supermarkets and bakeries and ferry purchased and stored goods to and from the centre. A van will streamline this process considerably.
"Thank you also to everyone who voted for our project - it means so much to have your support!"
Horsham Sports and Community Club would like to say thank you to everyone who partook in the voting process. We look forward to seeing the amazing work CEFC does for the community, and we are proud to be able to assist them in the purchasing of a commercial van to transport food to those in need.
