Changing of the guard at Wimmera Mallee News
WIMMERA Mallee News will enter a new chapter next week, with General Manager Clint King finishing in the role after almost 20 years in the regional media industry.
Mr King will step away from the day-to-day operations of the business at the end of August, with Kirsten Ridgeway appointed as the company’s new General Manager.
While finishing his employment with Wimmera Mallee News, Mr King will retain a strong connection to the locally-owned media company as a shareholder.
Mr King began his media career with The Wimmera Mail-Times in 2007.
He went on to hold several senior sales and management roles, including Group Sales Manager, before becoming General Manager of Wimmera Mallee News following the acquisition of the Mail-Times.
Wimmera Mallee News director Andrew Ward said Mr King had played an important role during a significant period of change and growth for the business.
“Clint has made an enormous contribution to the business and to local media across the Wimmera over nearly two decades,” Mr Ward said.
“He has built some incredibly strong relationships with our clients and community and has been a big part of bringing our businesses and teams together over the past couple of years.
“We’re pleased Clint will remain involved as a shareholder and continue to have a vested interest in the future success of Wimmera Mallee News.”
Mr King said leaving the day-to-day role after almost 20 years was bittersweet.
“I’ve basically grown up in this industry and have been fortunate to work with some fantastic people, businesses and community organisations along the way,” he said.
“I’m proud of what we’ve achieved, and I’m equally proud to remain part of the business as a shareholder.”
Ms Ridgeway will now take the reins as General Manager after establishing herself as a key member of the Wimmera Mallee News sales team.
Mr Ward said the appointment provided continuity for staff, clients and the wider community.
“Kirsten knows our business, she knows our clients, and she understands the communities we serve,” he said.
“We’re excited to see her take the next step and lead Wimmera Mallee News into its next chapter.”
