Calling all those committed to ensuring this region’s rich past is not forgotten: grants of up to $15,000 are available to support your work. In the 21st round of its Local History Grants Program, the Victorian Government is offering $350,000 in total to assist community organisations to “foster the preserving, recording and sharing of Victoria’s fascinating history”. The program is managed by the Public Record Office Victoria (PROV). PROV director and keeper of public records Justine Heazlewood said potential applicants included historical societies, museums, schools, sports clubs, theatre groups and volunteer organisations with “stories of trials, triumph and community to share”. In its most recent round, the program allocated funds to 40 projects ranging from upgrading a museum to archiving a theatre company’s history and digitising a collection of press clippings. Anyone interested in applying should not delay: applications must be made online by the close of business on Monday, January 30. Full details: prov.vic.gov.au
