Carter, Miller in fine form for HCA early in country week cricket
Horsham's under-17s squad is undefeated after three matches.
An unbeaten 124-run partnership beaten Luke Miller and Dezi Carter has headlined the Horsham Cricket Association's play at the under-17 and 15 country week carnivals.
Carter's 17s are currently unbeaten through three matches, whilst after an early win, the under-15s have lost their following two games.
On Monday, January 6, Jobe Dickinson top-scored with a run-a-ball 65 before Miller and Jack Combe took three wicks apiece in a 95-run win against the Hamilton District Association.
The under-17s backed it up on January 7, as Miller and Carter took centre-stage.
Three wickets from Oliver Potter saw Warrnambool Moyne Blue bowled out for 123.
Then Miller (74 not out) and Carter (41 not out) got Horsham home with 18.5 overs remaining.
For the under-15s, they fell to Hamilton on January 7.
Albert Schorback (42 off 100 balls) and Chase Kannar (25 off 23) offered resistance as HCA were bowled out for 105.
In reply, Dane Paech took the only wicket as Hamilton reached the target in the 24th over.
Horsham then had six individual wicket-takers on January 8 as Warrnambool Gold set 199 for victory at Sunnyside Recreation Reserve.
However, only Kannar (36 off 51) and Callum Jackson (25 off 59) reached double figures as the HCA were bowled out for 98.
The 17s finished day three of the carnival with a 39-run victory against neighbours Wimmera-Mallee.
Carter scored an unbeaten 41 as Horsham were bowled out for 141.
The HCA then showed its strength with ball in hand as it dismissed Wimmera-Mallee for 103 after 37 overs.
Hugh Weidemann took three wickets, while Miller, Combe and Dickinson added two.
The under-15s finish pool play against Mount Gambier back at Sunnyside on January 9, whilst the 17s finished at the top of their pool as the only unbeaten team.
