Thirty years of convening somewhere for a relaxing break with your caravan every six to eight weeks is a fair effort, and it was to that milestone that Wimmera Caravan Club earnestly celebrated in Jeparit.

Based out of Horsham, the club has visited a large range of tourist destinations, but president Tracey Errey said as some of the long-standing members grew older, the distances have shrunk somewhat recently.

“They are staying a lot closer to Horsham,” she admitted.

“The next one is at the end of July in Mildura, then Lake Fyans, then Lake Lonsdale, and then I think we're going to Swan Hill, and that'll be our Christmas rally.

“The club has been into South Australia, they've done Mount Gambier, all along the coast, that sort of thing.”

She said the experiences were always enjoyable with a balance of group activities and personal free time.

“It's just a good, relaxing weekend,” Tracey said.

“We sit and have happy hour, and then the rally marshall has everything organised. We've been to chocolate factories, and we've been to wineries, and we've done the silo art drive when we were up at Shepparton.

“So we just do fun things, and then the afternoon's usually free to do what you like.”

She said the club would always welcome new members, which, in fact, has already been happening.

“There's a lot of us younger ones that sort of want to take the reins and just try and be there for another 30 years – it'd be great!” Tracey said.

“(New people) can contact any of the committee. Then you get invited to two rallies, so you can come and work out if we sort of float your boat!

“Then after that, it's $25 a year per person, which is cheap as.”
