Motorbike stolen
A red dirt bike and two tonnes of ratchet straps have been stolen from Warracknabeal’s transfer station and landfill.
The burglary was committed by an unidentified intruder overnight on May 21–22.
Warracknabeal Police are appealing for help from witnesses.
Suspicious sedan
Warracknabeal Police say a suspicious silver sedan has been spotted moving around the town.
Community members have seen the car moving slowly near residential areas without its headlights on.
Police have been notified of this unusual behaviour on three separate occasions but the make of the car has yet to be confirmed so they are unable to say whether it is a Holden, Toyota or Ford.
Additionally, witnesses have reported instances of the car doing burnouts.
Police are asking for the vehicle’s registration and other details.
[CROSSHEAD] Scam calls
Warracknabeal residents are reportedly losing significant amounts of money every day to scam calls.
At least three community members have suffered significant financial losses.
According to police, two individuals have lost $15,000 and $30,000, respectively, while the third has lost most of their retirement savings.
Warracknabeal Police Sergeant Kylie Newell said people must protect their personal information.
“If someone receives any call claiming to be from a company like Telstra or NAB, don’t give them your details,” Sergeant Newell said.
“Note down the name and number and call the company directly.
“If it turns out to be a scam call, notify the local police.
“There’s a chance that police can identify the accused but still not be able to recover the money.”
