Busy times at Dimboola Croquet Club

The Dimboola Croquet Club had a special day last Tuesday when we entertained our friends from the Quontong social croquet group. We visited Quontong last March and enjoyed their excellent hospitality and their “interesting” courts. A special lunch and afternoon tea made the event social day as well as the friendly competition.
Six croquet players from Quontong joined our thirteen starters in four games where players were randomly paired and no handicaps used. The fact that approximately half the games were decided by 1 or 2 hoops indicated that the day was competitive as well as good fun.
The top scorers for Quontong were Kevin Geyer, Shirley Heard and Steve McPharlane with Steve winning the lucky dip and taking home the prize. Of the Dimboola contingent Alex Orcsik, Malcolm Jones and Charles Rees each won three games. Charles was the lucky winner to take home the prize. Lynne Chisholm of Quontong was presented with the encouragement award.
On Wednesday 8 Dimboola players went to Horsham Croquet Club for the official opening of the 2024-5 season. We joined players from Horsham and Kalimna Park Clubs in a very enjoyable day. Kelly Walker was Dimboola’s most successful player, finishing runner-up in her division.
