BLACKHEATH-Dimboola has set a target for Horsham Saints in their Horsham Cricket Association B Grade round 10 clash on their home turf at Dimboola.
The Bulls were forced to work hard for their runs under a tight reign from the Saints bowling attack and finished day one at 8-147 from 60 overs.
After the loss of an early wicket, the Bulls recovered through a second wicket partnership from skipper Sam Polack and Brodie Cramer who put together a stand of 58 with Polack making 31.
His innings came off 101 balls, working hard to keep the attack at bay as did Cramer who departed for 24 which came off 69 balls.
From there, the battle between bat and ball continued to the end of the day as the Bulls maintained its focus on occupying the crease with Jordan and Archer Laverty contributing scores of 12 and 19 respectively.
Rob Somers took the attack to the bowlers making a top score of 34 which came off 47 balls guiding his team to the end during an unbeaten knock.
Horsham Saints opening paceman Jono Carroll finished the best of the bowling attack to claim 4-35 off 15 overs, while opening partner Brock Hamerston worked hard through 21 overs to finish with 2-52.
Mark Crafter was accurate through seven overs, finishing with 2-7, while Saxon Sounness conceding just seven runs from eight overs.
The second-placed Saints will take the crease this weekend in chase of its target, while the Bulls, who trail the top four by half a game, will chase victory and keep its finals chances alive.
C Grade competiton returned on Saturday with the Bulls taking on Natimuk on their home deck at the Showgrounds in an attempt to maintain their place in the top four.
Winning the toss and batting, the Bulls made a strong start through opening pair Steve Glover and Nathan Schorback.
The pair put on 56 runs for the first wicket with Glover making 23 and Schorback clipping a top score of 37.
The Bulls then struggled through the remainder of the innings with only Luke Hutchinson producing a double-figure score of 15 as the Bulls were bowled out for 96 in 29.1 overs.
Natimuk bowler Jett Munn enjoyed a big day with the ball and finished with impressive figures of 7-15 off six overs to rout the Bulls.
In reply, Natimuk made pretty short work of its required target, clipping the winning runs in 20 overs with openers Tyler Coutts and Liam Klowss putting on 50 runs for the first wicket.
Coutts made 32 and Klowss made 30 before Jeremy Schmidt, 19, and Lochie Hutchinson, 18, guided their team to victory.
For the Bulls, Lilly and Isobelle Schorback claimed one wicket each.
The result saw the Bulls slip out of the top four into fifth position as the fight for a finals berth continues between eight of the 10 teams.
