BLACKHEATH-Dimboola B Grade suffered a loss in round nine of Horsham Cricket Association when they were defeated by Laharum at Recreation Reserve on Saturday.
Day two of round nine saw the first completed match of two-day matches with the Bulls remaining half a game outside the top four after going down by 74 runs on first innings to the fourth-placed Laharum line-up.
Day one of the match saw the Bulls post a score of 80 runs with Luke Hutchinson making a top score of 25 off 22 which included two boundaries and two sixes.
Brenden Marrs made 19 and opener Sam Leith, 17, to be the only other double-figure scorers.
In reply, Laharum claimed first innings points on day one, finishing the day at 5-110.
Ben Peucker dominated with the bat to post a quickfire 60 which came off 66 balls and included 10 boundaries.
Skipper Daniel Griffiths, 11, and Xavier Shevlin, five, resumed at the wicket on day two with Griffiths going on to make 32, while Damien Bunworth added a quickfire 18 from 17 balls as Laharum was dismissed for 154, an overall lead of 74.
For the Bulls, Daniel Collins finished with impressive figures of 4-16 from 11 overs, while opening pair Brenden Marrs and Elliot Braithwaite claimed two wickets each.
Blackheath-Dimboola returned the wicket for a second innings as Laharum took a shot at outright victory, but with just 20 remaining, the Bulls were able to hold their opponent at bay and finished the day at 3-49.
Skipper Sam Polack remained unbeaten on 26 and Braithwaite was unconquered on 13.
