There is a new radio station being broadcast around town offering comfort and hope to people in the area.
Vision Radio is now being broadcast from a transmitter on the Lutheran Church in Dimboola, bringing the word of God to over one million Christians per month.
Vision Radio originates in studios in Brisbane and is uplinked by satellite feed to over 750 locations across Australia 24/7.
Designed to present a non-denominational Christian worldview, the varied programs, including a streamed national news service, are carefully tailored to promote hope, healing and understanding of self and others.
"It helps you to boost your faith and learn deeply what God is doing in your life," said one avid listener.
Dimboola resident Gladys Schwarz said that, living alone as she does, the station's programs help alleviate the loneliness.
"It cheers you up," she said. "Living on my own with the radio on is so comforting."
"They discuss everything, cover every type of relationship - mothers, fathers, teenagers, grandparents, marriages, coworkers - how to interrelate and live with other people."
Ms Schwarz said she prefers the streamed Vision news service, too, which she says only does the highlights.
Vision Radio promises to deliver news that is balanced, forthright and fair, in keeping with Christian ethos.
"Too often the commercial radio stations seem to be in competition to produce the most gruesome details," Ms Schwarz said.
Vision Christian Media was founded in 1988 and first broadcast in 1999 from Underwood in Brisbane.
A non-profit organization, it runs on 80 per cent donations and holds fundraisers twice a year which generate an average $2.4 million per year.
Vision Radio can be accessed on 87.6FM within a ten kilometre radius of Dimboola CBD.
