Brim Kellalac Sheep Hills play their opening match against Birchip this weekend. The A Grade are playing at home whilst the B Grade are playing away.
After winning the premiership last year, beating Jeffcott by 9 wickets, they have a similar team in place to challenge for the title again.
Club President Matthew Crisp said that there are a couple of sides that could win it this year.
"St Arnaud are always tough to beat and the biggest question mark is how strong Jeffcott and Donald are following their merger," he said.
They will be missing a few players for harvest and Crisp said the juniors will be relied upon early.
"We have a lot of farmers in both divisions and during the harvest they are not going to be able to play so we have a few juniors we will look to," he said.
"The numbers have been good at training. We have been getting good turnouts so hopefully we can do well."
Their top order is going to be vitally important this year.
Isaac McPherson is back as captain and he averaged 45.4 over his 9 games last year. Openers Matthew Crisp and Jeremy Preston both averaged 44.6 and 49.3 respectively and if all three play to their capabilties, they are going to be hard to beat.
Their bowling attack is also strong. Lachlan McGinniss will be one of the important bowlers after taking 15 wickets last year at an average of 15.3. He took 4/1 against Jeffcott in the final round last year to show how damaging he can be on his day.
Charlie Dean is also a strong bowler. Last year he took 14 wickets at an everage of 11.4 and Chris McPherson took 12 wickets at 12.3 with his spin.
Kobe McGregor averaged a wicket in each game across both divisions last year and Crisp said that he is one to watch.
"We are hoping for a breakout year for him. Last year he showed what he can do and we are looking forward to seeing what he can produce this year," he said.
