Brim Hotel owners become reluctant sellers despite thriving business
The Brim Hotel hits the market after renovation and re-opening.
In June 2024, Allan Crane, his sister Barb Donelly and her husband, Steven Donelly, reopened the Brim Hotel after renovating the long-closed and previously rundown venue.
However, six months later, health challenges for the trio forced them to return the property to the market, where it had spent much of the last decade, although with a thriving modern business included.
"We're hoping whoever buys it will take it to the next level," Mr Crane said.
"We've been fortunate in the first six months to take it from zero to a pretty productive pub with a nice environment and all that stuff.
"But, it's time now, unfortunately, because of our circumstances, for someone[else] to take the next step."
With the rejuvenated pub proving a success with locals and travellers alike, Mr Crane believes there is plenty of space for the business to grow.
"We've only taken the first step," he said.
"There is a heap of room for the right person to turn this into something even bigger."
When opening the pub, Mr Crane said creating community connection was key to what he and his business partners wanted to do with the pub.
"The community support's been amazing from across the district," he said.
"We had no idea when we bought it how iconic it was and how the district valued this pub."
While Mr Crane and his fellow owners have received offers to buy the Brim Hotel, none have been accepted yet.
The group continues to operate the Brim Hotel while it's on the market.
