Bowlers back to winning golf

SATURDAY’s stableford event at the Warracknabeal Golf Club saw the return of several bowlers to the fairways, tees and greens.
Every reliable Wayne Gove cleaned up A Grade with an excellent 40 stableford points off a nine handicap. Runner-up was Nick Pietsch (14) with 38 points.
In B Grade, Dennis Murphy (19) also had a great score of 39 points and runner-up was (another bowler) John Barbetti (20) with again a great score of 38 points.
Sponsors of this event were Terry Sanders and John Peters. A big thank you to these two golfing sponsors.
Other good scores on the day were Ryan McKenzie, 36, and Ryan Smith, Danny Kearns and Stan Ryan, all on 34 points.
The ladies winner was Carolyn Morcom (22) with 35 stableford points followed by Leonie Saunders (31) on 34 points.
Nearest the pin second shot ninth hole was Ryan McKenzie. Closest on the fifth hole was Corrine Heintz for the ladies, while no men landed.
Nearest on the seventh hole was John Barbetti and Carolyn Morcom, while on the 13th hole was Nick Pietsch (bonus) and no ladies.
Tomorrow’s event is Mulligans with Noel and Daniel Kearns on the draw.
Also this weekend, the Green Taylor Partners Three-Person Ambrose event will be held on Sunday, 11.30am assembly for 12.00pm hit off.
Thursday’s Royal Mail Meal Run was played in excellent conditions with Stan Ryan continuing his good form with 19 points on the front nine holes, followed by Sandon Schultz on 18 points.
On the back nine holes, evening golfer Ash Purdue scored 19 points but was beaten on a countback by Daryl McKay (also on 19 points).
The overall winner over the 18 holes was Sandon Schultz on 36 points. No nearest the pins were recorded.
Joke of the week
Leonie Saunders was talking to Tepp recently on the phone.
Leonie said, “Tepp, don’t forget to buy the bread on the way around tonight after you have greeted your other lover Valerie.”
Tepp says, “who the hell is Valerie.”
Leonie says, “Nobody. I just wanted you to answer to have confirmation you saw my text.”
However Tepp replied with, “but I am with Valerie right now, I thought you must have seen us together and that’s why you text me.”
Leonie replied, “what”. Angry now, “where are you.”
Tepp said, “at the bakery.”
Leonie, “you wait right there, I am coming down there right now to front this woman.”
After 10 minutes, Leonie sends a message which says, “where are you, I am at the bakery and can’t find you.”
Tepp text back, “I am at work but while you are at the bakery now, you may as well get the bread.”
