Bon voyage: looking back on trips to Europe, adventuring through Melbourne
Yolande and her hubby spent the weekend feasting on culture.
When my little sister and I were in London before the turn of the century, we climbed up onto the gigantic black lions at Trafalgar Square so mum could take a photo of us.
Tammy was living overseas at the time, so mum and I had gone over to check out her dodgy boyfriend.
This month, Mrs Sheehan went back to Europe with her lovely husband and three teenagers to visit.
London, Paris and Barcelona have all played host to Tam as she and her tribe have been to palaces, art galleries and soccer matches on the other side of the world.
While she's managing that adventure, I chose to take a turn through her new hometown, Melbourne.
Hubby and I spent the weekend in Kew with our three daughters who are quite the young ladies now.
We ate pasta in an Italian restaurant, we were served by an Irishman in a pub and drank mulled wine in the Lido cinema while watching and American film - we literally feasted on culture left, right and centre!
Together for a very special occasion, we gathered around 'Bun Bun the Middle One' as she celebrated her baptism by full emersion.
Baptised as a baby, she's all grown up now and shared her testimony with the congregation in the packed historic church.
The band played as she came up out of the water to be embraced by her two sisters who wrapped her in a beach towel to dry off.
There were tears aplenty as a cheer echoed around the timber panelled walls.
Having dined out for a long lunch before the 5.30pm service, we decided to go out for supper and chose a wine bar for a drink and a snack.
With all my girls adulting now, it's lovely to be able to enjoy a mature beverage together when we like.
Yasinta bravely exposed her boyfriend to her crazy family at table for the second time so that we could all confirm that he isn't the least bit dodgy.
We didn't climb any gigantic cultural monuments for photos and got so busy laughing that we totally forgot to take any selfies or pictures of the food, but we caught up on each other's news.
It was a 'bon voyage'.
