Bombers wary of Lakers
Noradjuha Quantong’s senior football side will look to maintain their spot on top of the ladder with a win against Taylors Lake in round seven this Saturday May 23.
In what has been an unfortunate trend for the visitors in 2026, the Lakers found themselves within two goals of an in-form Kaniva Leeor side in round six, before eventually going down 99-61.
And while the Lakers are yet to win a game this season, Bombers coach Damian Cameron said he expected them to enter Saturday’s clash with hunger.
“I thought with their offseason they would be highly competitive and, if things went their way, push up towards the top five,” Cameron said.
“So they would be pretty disappointed to not have a win yet and I don’t think at this stage of the year they're going to go to sleep and be satisfied with that.
“So we'll try to bring a couple of guys in, set our team and obviously go in knowing that it's going to be a competitive game.
“We're taking every game seriously at the moment, and in the first half of the year we just want to make sure we're playing good footy and getting those wins when we can.”
The Noradjuha Quantong coach said he was proud of the team’s round-six win over Kalkee where the side was missing almost half of their starting lineup.
With numerous players set to return in the coming weeks, along with the long-weekend break and round 10 bye coming up, Cameron said he was hopeful the side would start to build more continuity as the season progressed.
“Hopefully we have Brock Orval back in about a month, and we should have almost everyone else back in the next two to four weeks, provided we don’t have any additional injuries,” he said.
“Jayden Besford’s the only one who might have a bit of an extended break.
“It can be a bit hard with players coming in and out each week and changing the way we go about things.”
