Warracknabeal and District Band Inc is pleased to be supplying an afternoon of musical entertainment this Sunday August 20 starting at 2pm in the Warracknabeal Town Hall.
There will be a varied program with something for all age-groups and musical tastes.
The band will be starting the performance with several numbers that should appeal to music lovers of all ages.
There is a large number of younger members who will be performing in their first major public stage event, adding to the members with several years' experience.
The band is just getting back to performing publicly after lacking opportunities over the past few years and is hoping for a good turnout of supporters.
This will be the first opportunity for Warracknabeal to hear the sound of the newly purchased timpani as part of the performance, all under the baton of musical director Jason Wright
The Horsham City Pipe Band will be providing a different sound to the afternoon's entertainment with its Scottish tunes from the pipes and drums.
The pipe band, in its 101st year, continues its purpose of promoting appreciation for Scottish culture through its work in highland bagpiping and drums.
Born from the Horsham district's local Scottish community's pride of collective heritage some 150 years ago, the band continues to play many traditional tunes while also embracing many facets of contemporary and modern trends in pipe band music.
Members will be providing a selection of traditional and contemporary Scottish marches, songs and (Scottish) dance tunes, including a few fan favorites.
Members of the band are from a wide area and include Warracknabeal local Cameron Whelan.
Warracknabeal Secondary College Rock Band will perform a mix of classic rock, from INXS to Coldplay.
The line-up is Benjamin Holland (keyboard), Cody Pollack (bass, sax and vocals), Meleah Smith, Olivya Taylor and Nash Kreeger (guitars), Zack O'Connor (drums), Logan Todd -(vocals) and Jannelle Phillips (music teacher – bass).
The band is part of the school's successful instrumental music program, now in its sixth year
The afternoon will conclude with the Warracknabeal band returning to play another set of entertaining music, with maybe a few surprises in store for the audience, so everyone should be prepared.
Entrance will be by donation at the door, with proceeds to be divided between the band and the town hall committee.
An afternoon tea, supplied by the town hall committee, will be available at the conclusion of the program.
The three banks' message to the community is "Come and listen to some great entertainment in our magnificent, renovated town hall".
