Beulah Primary School to receive major upgrades
Beulah Primary School is destined for some major redevelopment upgrades with the school's 'whole school landscape master plan' now in the works.
Beulah Principal Nathan Wright said since he has been principal, the parents club has done lots of fundraising to afford new sporting equipment and learning resources for the students.
"Not much else has really been done before," he said.
The school did undergo restumping, repainting and recarpeting works last year and Mr Wright said they also had major stormwater issues, which were fixed.
The master plan looks at a redesign for the school entrance and gardens with indigenous elements incorporated around the school.
A bowling green, mini golf and croquet turf is planned to be put in the front.
"We have the space to use," Mr Wright said.
A bike track is planned to be put in, so students have the chance to use the bikes Rural Northwest Health gifted the school in 2023.
"It will also increase physical activity," he said.
A new senior playground is also on the cards, but the original will be kept.
A full size basketball and netball court is destined to be built to replace the existing half court with a large undercover structure, also in the master plan.
Sensory playspace with a sandpit, huts with sticks, shop fronts and cubby houses will create a hands-on learning village for students.
"It's a chance for students to be creative in the space," Mr Wright said.
Mr Wright said they will be partnering with Beulah Outreach Preschool to offer cooking classes for young children.
"We'll build an outside kitchen for hands-on activities," he said.
"There will be an eating area and a veggie garden."
Other school infrastructure including a sports shed and storage area will also be looked at.
Mr Wright hopes the project will be completed in the next five years, ready to celebrate 100 years at their current site.
"It's a very ambitious timeline," he said.
"If we don't set a goal, it will keep getting pushed back."
Budgeting, grant applications and fundraising will be done to help pay for the renovations, with Mr Wright calling on the community to help with ideas.
"We'd love to hear your fundraising ideas," he said.
"We all want to get this project completed."
He said they are currently mapping out stages the works will be done in and then will be working out the cost of the project.
Mr Wright said the school has seen enrollment numbers double since 2020 with students now having a wide range of different interests.
"It used to be that all students were into sports," he said.
"Now students are interested in different things, so this master plan allows us to cater for each student.
"We're trying to utilise every space we can use."
