Bendigo Bank backs Easter egg hunt

Despite rain and heavy thunderstorms the night before, the Dimboola community showed up in large numbers to support the Dimboola Bendigo Bank's inaugural Easter egg hunt at the Rec Soundshell.
The event was organised in partnership with the Good Friday Appeal and the Lions Club to raise funds for the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne.
Bendigo Bank said this was its first such event but it was planning to make the hunt an annual occurrence.
The bank also said it intended to continue hosting the Easter egg hunt in the future.
Both the Lions and the Good Friday Appeal were gratified that Bendigo Bank was now on board for the annual event.
"We've wanted this for some time," Lions member and area manager of the Good Friday Appeal, Debbie Clark, said.
"We're very happy about it."
According to Ms Clark, the Lions Club had collected more than $900 in raffle donations from the community, some of which would be used to provide prizes for the Easter egg hunt.
The club also conducted a raffle outside the shire building on Lloyd Street at the same time as the hunt – the fifth Lions raffle drive to be held this year.
Pam Pratt, who owns Rosehaven Farms near Mount Zero, was one of many donors who generously contributed prizes to the Easter egg hunt.
Ms Pratt gave four adult tours of her farms as prize, each offering a unique opportunity to interact with animals.
A representative of the Good Friday Appeal, Amanda, said she "couldn't believe the event had turned out so well".
"I'm really surprised by the turnout," she said.
"After the thunderstorms last night, so many people."
Although many children made for shelter to participate in the indoor craft activities, a good many others braved the Easter rain.
"I think an Easter egg hunt in the rain is just fun and exciting to kids," one mother said.
"The rain doesn't bother them one bit."
