Staff and students of Donald High School and Mallee Sports Assembly have had a wonderful opportunity to visit the disability service Woodbine in Warracknabeal.
For many years Woodbine has been attending the physical activity programs that have been co-ordinated by the Mallee Sports Assembly (Wycheproof) and supported by Donald High School.
Donald High School staff member Kim Griffiths, 10 vocational students and Rhonda Allan of Mallee Sports Assembly travelled by bus.
The group was welcomed by staff Heather Thomas and Olivia Coates and participants at Woodbine.
They were shown around the venue to observe the many activities and opportunities that are offered to participants.
The tour included the billiard room, music room, craft and sensory rooms, nursery, heated pool, tennis court, movie room and work shed housing mowing and gardening equipment.
They also visited the local hospital café and the craft shop, which is staffed by people of all abilities.
What an eye-opener it was for the visitors to see the great opportunities being offered.
After a quick morning tea break of a hot cuppa with homemade slices, the group had the pleasure of visiting the accommodation with resident Mark, who showed them through his comfortable one-bedroom home.
Manager of the outdoor staff, Des Roberts, and the boys cooked a delicious barbecue lunch.
Some of the students even enjoyed jumping time on the huge on-site trampoline.
