WIMMERA Football League’s top five battle for positions is looming large early in the season with four teams undefeated after the opening two rounds of the season.
Horsham Saints will look to stay unbeaten when they travel to Stawell. The Warriors haven’t won a game yet this season and Saints coach Ben Knott is not taking anything for granted.
“They still have quality players across the field,” Knott said.
“We expect them to bring their best and we expect nothing less. We need to focus on what we are trying to do – bringing that defensive aspect and hopefully we can bring them unstuck,” he concluded.
The Saints have no injuries heading into the match and will be fielding pretty much the same team that beat the Demons.
The undefeated Dimboola host the Demons on Saturday. The Demons also have no injury issues and coach Tyler Blake said the team will regroup and recalibrate following two losses.
“We will make a few adjustments to the game plan. We have to keep moving forward and stick to it. We have a young group and it was always going to be up and down.”
When asked how the players have handled what they worked on pre-season in matches, Blake added.
“The boys are listening to what you say. They are going pretty well. We need to get chipping away at the things we are working on and it will take time to gel. At the same time we have to adjust it as we go to suit the team we have on the field,” he concluded.
In the other two matches, Ararat will look to remain unbeaten when they host the Warrack Eagles and the Southern Mallee Giants will return from a bye and will look forward to the test when they face reigning premiers Minyip Murtoa at the Murtoa Recreation Reserve.
