Awards highlight Australia Day

Warracknabeal celebrated Australia Day with a free breakfast at the Racecourse, followed by the awards ceremony.
The event also featured guest speaker Nicole Batley, who talked about her life and travels since leaving Warracknabeal, and singer Sofia Laursen Habel- "The Belle of Boolite."
Three community members received Australia Day awards.
Piper Knorpp received Young Achiever of the Year for, at 11 years old, showing an amazing amount of skill and dedication in the pursuit of a sports and athletics career.
Mavis Wardle was named Sports Person of the Year for her lifetime of support for local sport as a player, coach and executive.
Barbara Bell has been selected as Rotary Citizenship Award for her vision and creative talents, which have enriched the local community and contributed to the town's overall prosperity.
Warracknabeal also welcomed and celebrated a new Australian citizen, Shivonne Batiancila, and acknowledged Glenn Pollard's 60th birthday with a footy shirt from his favourite team.
