Ararat challenged, but bank the win

They are the beast that so far haven't been able to be tamed – but on Saturday, Minyip Murtoa came close to claiming the scalp of Wimmera Football Netball League's best.

Ararat are undefeated and are the ladder leaders of the competition, with six wins.

The Burras, in comparison, have a record of three and two.

Final scores when the sides played each other on Saturday were Ararat 12.9 (81) to Minyip Murtoa 9.7 (61).

Ararat was led by Henry Shea and Ben Taylor, with Shea being their main goal scorer for the day, with four.

Successful at the tribunal on Thursday, Tom Williamson played, contributing a couple of goals.

Hugh Toner also booted a pair of majors.

For the Burras, Timothy Mcintyre was a focal point in the forward line and was among the best players after kicking three goals, while Tanner Smith was also in form for the side.
