Ararat back on the list of winners
Ararat recorded a resounding victory over Dimboola - 28.13 (181) to 4.1 (25).
Ararat, at Alexandra Oval, had 3.2 on the score to Dimboola's 0.1 at the end of the first quarter.
By half-time, Ararat had a lead of 53 points: 10.6 (66) to 2.1 (13).
Dimboola kicked a goal in both quarter three and the last quarter, while Ararat marched on, contributing 7.6 in the quarter after half-time and 11.1 in the final term.
Better players for Ararat included Ben Taylor and Brody Griffin, while goal kickers included Taylor, with seven, and Giffin, Liam Kaine and Tom Mills with four respectively.
For Dimboola, Jack Wood and Mitchell O'Donnell were best on ground, with four individual goal scorers in Andrew Moore, Ashley Clugston, Riley McLaughlin and O'Donnell.
Coaching director Corey Taylor said Ararat worked their way into the game as it progressed well, and were able to play their brand of footy in the second half.
"It was a well-rounded effort," he said.
It was Ararat's first victory for 2026, after they were defeated by Stawell on Good Friday, and Taylor said they learned a lot from that loss.
"We felt we were a bit off against Stawell and didn't execute as well as we would've liked to," he said.
"We reviewed the game in detail and set about bouncing back against Dimboola, which we were able to do."
Taylor acknowledged the efforts of Ben Taylor and Harry Ganley.
"Everyone contributed and played their role," he said.
"Ben played well through the midfield and forward line and ended up kicking seven goals, and Harry Ganley was good across half back, racking up a lot of the footy and setting us up behind the ball."
