Ararat and Nhill look to break deadlock
Both Ararat and Nhill are currently sitting on 12 points heading into round seven this Saturday, but one side will be clear on the ladder over the other come early evening.
With a record of 3-2, only percentage separates the sides; Ararat has the greater at 181.10 while Nhill's is 155.67.
Ararat host the match on Saturday at Alexandra Oval and are coming off the back of a loss (albeit narrowly) to ladder leaders Southern Mallee last week.
Nhill will be bolstered by their four-quarter-performance win over Dimboola last Saturday by more than 100 points.
Ararat's director of football, Corey Taylor, said they were expecting a competitive game from Nhill this week.
"Nhill have had a good start to the year and we expect them to be at their best on Saturday," Taylor said.
After reviewing last week's game thoroughly, Taylor said the leaders of the side had identified areas they needed to improve on, and as such they were expecting the team to put together a better four-quarter effort and performance.
"Nhill has some terrific footballers across every line," Taylor said.
"We have had some good battles against them over the last couple of seasons and we'll need to be at our best to win this weekend."
Wtih an extensive injury list at the moment, Taylor said the casualties were giving a lot of opportunities to players.
"We expect to get a few players back this weekend but we'll know more closer to game day," he said.
