Ararat account for Nhill

Asserting their continued dominance over the league, Ararat accounted for Nhill on Saturday by 58 points, 18.7 (115) to 8.9 (57).

The ladder leaders, Ararat, got the early jump on Nhill, who are second, leading by 12 points at the end of the first quarter.

Ararat extended that lead to 23 points at half-time and 52 points heading into the final quarter.

It was nearly an even final term, with Ararat adding 28 to their score and Nhill 22.

Ben Taylor and Ethan Summers were great for the victors, while Tom Williamson once again made a big impact in front of goals, kicking six majors.

Darcy Honeyman and Liam Albrecht were the better players for Nhill, along with Xavier Bone and Clay Shadforth (two apiece as the only multiple goal scorers).

Ararat are now a couple of games clear in first on the ladder and Nhill are second.

Stawell are third, just a game behind Nhill, while Minyip Murtoa are fourth, but only on percentage.

The Burras, who are on 16 points, share their points total with Dimboola, the Thunder and Horsham Saints but have the better percentage of 106.44 compared to 98.90, 97.06 and 85.15 respectively.
