Ambo's treat house fire occupant
Six CFA trucks and at least 18 firefighters responded to a fire that destroyed a house in Darts Ave, Rainbow, on Tuesday October 29.
Brigade Captain Andrew Newnham said the fire started at 11.50pm where they found the house fully engulfed in flames.
A smoke detector woke up the only male occupant, who was sleeping in the front bedroom and found the house was full of smoke.
The man was treated at the scene by ambulance personnel for smoke inhalation, but was later released.
A motor vehicle in the driveway was also damaged.
The fire brigade saved the houses on either side, with only one house sustaining minor damage.
The brigade stayed on scene for three and a half hours, mopping up and ensuring the fire was extinguished.
Fire investigators attended the following day and the cause is still being determined.
The property is expected to be demolished.
In a seperate incident just before 12pm on Monday October 28, three fire trucks and around eight people responded to a building fire at the rear of Bow Bakery in Federal Street, Rainbow.
A smouldering fire in the ceiling cavity was found caused by dust around a switch.
Minimal damage was done to the ceiling beams and plaster.
