Alexander and Dahlenburg centuries lead Warriors
Centuries to Brad Alexander and Mitchell Dahlenburg have guided the West Wimmera Warriors to a 193-run win over Lubeck Murtoa at Murtoa Recreation Reserve in round four of the Horsham Cricket Association.
The Mudlarks won the toss and sent the Warriors in, and despite getting Jobe Dickinson early for six runs, caught by Blake Downer off the bowling of Xavier Shevlin, they rued that decision as Brad Alexander and Mitchell Dahlenburg went on a rampage,
The two put on a 201-run partnership for the second wicket, finally broken by Xavier Shevlin, who dismissed Alexander for 122 off 108 balls.
Wallace Wheaton came to the crease and, with Dahlenburg in some good touch, put on 20 runs until Caleb Hurley caught him off the bowling of Blake Turner.
Bailey McQueen was dismissed for four, and shortly after, Tom Eade took the wicket of Dahlenburg for 115, giving the Warriors 5/280.
The Warriors finished at 5/284 off their 45 overs, with Eade the pick of the bowlers for the Mudlarks with 1/30 (5).
In reply, the Mudlarks couldn't get a rhythm going with the Warriors bowling tight and getting regular wickets.
They were bowled out for 91 after 27 overs, with Oliver Garth Lindsay top-scoring with 13.
Jeremy Weeks was the best bowler for the Warriors, taking 4/36 (7). Xavier Bone was also solid with 3/23 (6).
Dahlenburg said he took his time to get going and benefited from Bradley being at the other end.
"I took my time to get going and started to find the middle of the bat, and I was lucky enough to get on a few later on in the innings," Dahlenburg said.
"Brad and I knuckled down, and he was going at a reasonable rate early on, which took the pressure off me and helped me build my innings.
"It was good to have someone like that at the other end, watch them hit some nice shots, and get used to the pace of the game."
"I didn't play much last year, and it was a good day. It was good batting with Brad, and getting the win is even better as we are now doing what we should be doing."
When asked if this was one of the best centuries he scored, Brad said it's up there.
"Batting with a good mate, putting on that partnership, and Mitch also scoring 100, puts it up there," Alexander said.
"It was good to spend time in the middle and build myself into an innings. By the time Mitch had settled in, I was going, and the partnership worked out.
"The confidence is up now, even though after round one, the only way to go was up; we are happy with how we responded as a team and how we are going at the moment."
