Do you know how to use a defibrillator?
New automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are popping up all over town, increasing the public’s access to these lifesaving devices, with the latest situated outside Wheatfields Family Medical near the Town Hall.
Donated to the community by Warracknabeal Rotary Club, these defibrillators are housed in cabinets which see Scott Street well served with 24-hour access to AEDs in three different locations.
They are simple to operate, but do you feel confident using one to help a friend, family member, customer, work colleague or stranger?
As there is still some uncertainty in the community about using an AED for the first time, Warracknabeal Rotary Club has arranged for Casey Kosch, an AED provider and qualified first aid Instructor, to host a free public information session next Wednesday.
The session will be held at Rotary House (opposite the IGA Supermarket) from 7pm to 7.30 pm on November 1, and everyone is encouraged to spend 30 minutes learning how to operate these very user-friendly lifesaving devices, and take the opportunity to ask Ms Kosch any questions.
Ms Kosch will also be available to help others who are interested in obtaining an AED, either for home or for their organisation, and how to register your AED so that its location can be shared.
