Former Warracknabeal man Colby Bryce's commitment to highlighting social issues was recognised recently when he was presented the 2023 Victoria University Rising Star Alumni award.
Mr Bryce's commitment to education and addressing issues started when he was just 13, inspired by attending his mother Mandy's master's degree graduation ceremony at the university.
With a Bachelor of Health Science specialising in health and nutrition, Mr Bryce earned the prestigious George Alexandra Scholarship, furthering his academic journey with a Bachelor of Psychological Science, a Graduate Diploma in Psychology with honours, and a Master of Applied Psychology.
Employed as a Psychologist and Behaviour Support Practitioner with National Positive Behaviour Support, which he also manages, his passion is evident via his numerous publications in academic journals, covering topics from substance use to mental health.
Recently turning his focus to women's empowerment and gender equality, Mr Bryce leads a team of professionals across Australia.
Engaging audiences through talks and workshops, as well as via his Instagram channel http://@the.psychologist.nutritionist, Mr Bryce aims to empower individuals to navigate challenges and discover inner resilience, as well as advocating for culturally appropriate programs and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Indigenous Australians.
Last month he released a book on enhancing mental wellbeing and personal growth.
Victoria University described Mr Bryce's journey as "a testament to his compassion, innovation, and impact on the field of mental health, advocating for a comprehensive approach to wellbeing that benefits the community".
