Many cultures united in an evening of colour, dance, celebration and fine food during Horsham's Harmony Day event.
"Everyone Belongs" was the message for the nationwide event which aims to encourage community participation as well as respect for cultural and religious diversity. The Wimmera event was at at Horsham Neighbourhood House.
Oasis Wimmera, Wimmera Settlement Services and Horsham Neighbourhood House organised the event which included people from the Philippines, Bhutan, the Ukraine, India, Nepal, Cambodia, China and the Thai-Burma border who now call Australia home.
Henna tattooing, face painting, display of cultural costumes and many cultural dance performances entertained a large audience, with food provided by Horsham Masala.
Oasis Wimmera president Anubha Jalla Das said the celebration was fun-filled and had many charismatic performances. She expressed gratitude to all who made the event a success.
Settlement Services Manager Sara Barron said many factors combined perfectly to create a wonderful evening for children, parents and older people.
"The weather was perfect and the food was wonderful as was the entertainment," she said. "But we might need to find a larger venue next time."
