Big crowd expected for netball tussle
The Ararat and Stawell lineups in A Grade are looking forward to a competitive game of netball on Good Friday, in front of a big crowd and in hot weather.
Both sides are looking for their first win of the season after Ararat went down to Horsham last week, 48 to 56 and Stawell lost to the Thunder 39 - 48.
Ararat coach Sally Noble said despite the loss last Saturday, her girls were feeling excited for the game on Friday.
"What a day to be part of on Good Friday," she said.
"It always brings in a big crowd, friendly rivalry in all matches, and a super day of fundraising for the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal."
The Ararat side have made no changes to their line-up, and are expecting their opposition to come out strong.
"It's going to be another hot one on Friday so we plan to play smarter not harder and just consistent in every quarter."
Likewise, after being edged out in the last quarter last Saturday, the Stawell team are feeling positive about the game on Friday.
"Last week was our first as a new look A Grade and I was really pleased with how we played," coach Jemma Clarkson said.
"It's always lots of fun to be involved in the Good Friday game against Ararat, usually we get a big crowd and the atmosphere is great.
"Easter is a lively time in Stawell and it's special to be a part of that."
Just the one change is expected for in the lineup for Stawell, with Rita Dyer, who wasn't available in round one, coming into the team.
"It's always a great match against Ararat, both sides look to bring their best games and really want to take home the win," Clarkson said.
"We expect, as always, a tough battle.
"We will be needing to be composed on court, back each other up and make the most of any turnovers created."
